Joy Mukherjee is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, a joint entity of the Johns Hopkins Health System and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, serving more than 420,000 members in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, Joy serves on the executive leadership team and leads the IT division to advance Johns Hopkins Health Plans’ goals across many areas, including data & analytics, artificial intelligence, security, core system modernization, customer experience, and more.
An accomplished senior executive with more than 30 years of experience leading and transforming IT, Joy has worked within health plans for more than two decades, including various IT leadership roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and CareSource prior to joining Johns Hopkins Health Plans.
Under his leadership, organizations have won several awards for innovation and positive impacts to members and core business operations. Joy has driven cutting-edge solutions in multiple technology domains including data & analytics =, cloud enablement, system modernization and process optimization. He is a strong proponent of harnessing emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced data analytics, to gain a competitive edge.
Joy earned his bachelor’s degrees in Computer Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India and an MBA in Finance from University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He is also an America’s Health Insurance Plan (AHIP) certified health insurance executive.
